One of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies is "King Lear" and in the next scene you will meet the king and his three daughters - Goneral, Regan, and Cordelia. The king desires to divide the kingdom among his three daughters and asks them, for the sake of his own pride and vanity, to tell "how much they love him." By their declarations, he will judge who will get the best and biggest part of his kingdom. Goneral and Regan play his game, and with ingenuous hearts tells their old father what he wants to hear, and he rewards them accordingly. Cordelia, who is an honest and virtuous woman, who truly loves her father, will not fashion her words to pander to his pride. The king becomes furious with her, and he casts her from his inheritance.
