I don't use a capo (because I don't have one =p), and I have 12's. You just have to spend time on drills designed to increase strength throughout your entire range of motion.. either that, or play music that accomplishes the same. In my opinion, steel string acoustics sound FAR better with heavy gauge strings, especially in the upper midrange. You just can't really execute bends at all. At least, I can't.
at the end of the first two rounds of the riff, after that C chord is played, the chord is x3032x. hate to be the devils advocate, but otherwise flawless

Heh, unless you have extra light strings, it's only possible with a capo.
