November 11, 2009 - Namco Bandai's recent RPG tease came to an end today with a full reveal of Keroro RPG in Famitsu.

Fully titled Keroro RPG: The Knight, the Warrior, and the Legendary Pirate, this DS RPG is being developed by Namco Tales Studio, the same group behind the Tales series of RPGs. The game mixes Tales-style gameplay elements with characters and world elements from the Keroro (aka Sgt. Frog) anime.

Things kick off in Keroro RPG when Sergeant Keroro powers up a mysterious video game system. He and the five members of the Keroro Platoon get sucked into a game world, which serves as the setting for a Tales-like RPG.

The game's battle system seems to borrow the most from the Tales series. The latest incarnation of the series' Linear Motion Battle System, you take control of Keroro and his platoon members on 2D side-view battle fields.

The action feel of the LMBS system looks like it will be in tact here. The game even promises easier combos, allowing you to get major air time once you manage to launch an enemy up.

New for Keroro RPG is a system where you select panels from the bottom screen to bring out support characters into battle. Famitsu hints that these characters will be parodies of other characters. The battle system also sees Keroro and crew transform into new forms during special attacks.

Keroro RPG looks like it will retain the trademark humor of the Keroro anime, which is likely to be one of the keys to its success. Japan will be witness to the end result of this unlikely pairing when the game hits some time in 2010.
