Space shuttle Discovery lifted off at 4:53 p.m. EST 24.02.2011 from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, with Commander Steve Lindsey leading the STS-133 crew to deliver the Permanent Multipurpose Module and Robonaut 2 to the space station.
Still wish they would have ended with Discovery since this vehicle was the one that got us back into space after both Challenger and Columbia disasters. That would have been fitting! Thank you to all who have worked and supported and gave their lives to the space program. I will always be grateful
Never knew about the one back in February, but then I never really kept up with NASA. It was just something that popped up in my life occasionally until I was invited to a classmate's apartment for breakfast and to see the final lift off. (Little did I know it was also his birthday till after we were done eating lol). But now I am set and determined to watch Atlantis land as I saw it take off!
@prestonwillis10 The water isn't to cool it down it's to stop the vibrations ripping it and shuttle apart. The pad is designed to take the intense heat but it's tall enough be destroyed by the force and sound waves of lift off.

So NASA tell us all why you haven't been back to the moon. And don't mention the aliens who expelled up from it back in the 60's.

To me this was the last great launch. A great program to grow up with and I look forward to the next.

We had to cut NASA and the space shuttle so we could keep the Bush tax cuts for millionaires.
