Industrial pollution causes birth defects and cancer and is believed to also contribute to climate change. So even if climate change isn't caused by cancer causing industrial emissions --- we need to reduce it anyway because it causes cancer!
Oh yea, people are just dying all over the place due to all the pollution! Air quality is BETTER than ever before! There are already plenty of environmental standards and regulation. And for those of you that think that sticking it to the corporations is the way to go need to realize that when you do that, you screw YOURSELF!!! Corporations pass everything along to YOU!!! They simply raise the price and then YOU LOSE! I always laugh at people that subscribe to that crap. Funny.
you guys dont understand. al gore and rfk jr truly care about the planet and co2 effects especially when they are traveling around the country on their private jets.
It amazes me that anyone could misrepresent so many well known facts. You should know that the Global Warming Debate argues whether or not man made CO2 is causing global warming. It is not a debate over whether GW is occuring or not though that is in question, and it does not address industrial waste polluting the environment. CO2 is not pollution. You are so incredibly off base with your arguments, I have to wonder why you are so confused or what your motivation is. This video is shameful.
No one is talking about allowing "industrial waste" CO2 doesn't cause birth defects or cancer.
You speak of raising standards as if its nothing. The Kyoto protocol will send us well on the way to bankruptcy for many of our businesses. By your rationale we could place ANY burden we want on businesses, because it will drive out inferior competition. Wrong, it will just wreck markets where no one can keep up without government funding. If alternative energies were better they'd be here already.
So your contention is that requiring a manufacturer to NOT dump toxic waste into our drinking water is a "unattainable standard"? Actually, it's a fairly easy standard to meet. If a company is simply to incompetent to meet these common sense goals then they will be driven off and replaced by more intelligently run companies. Lowering our standards so that even the most incompetent CEO is kept in business is a ridiculous idea.
You will also be paying for it in the grocery store. It costs money for a farmer to pay for the fuel to get crops out of the field. It costs money to pay for the fuel to ship it to your house. Don't think you can get away with insisting on ridiculous unattainable standards and you won't be paying for it somehow.
Sounds good in theory, until you realize that it is not the builders who pay the price when they have to pay higher impact fees for building, it is the renters of apartments and land owners. It will also be the case that the oil companies will not take the fall for increased burdens on producing higher grade fuels. I hope you enjoy paying for it at the pump when it comes your turn to pay the price.
