Confederate Flag - I-75/I-4 Interchange - Florida

The Sons of Confederate Veterans hoisted this 30x60 flag Sunday, October 12, 2008 near the intersection of Interstate 75 and Interstate 4 outside Tampa, Florida. This flag is located on private property which is going to be turned into a memorial park.

Though I posted this video, I never voiced any agreement with secession from the United States nor would I now. It's wrong. What I do love about this is the passion that the "founding fathers" (if you will) of the CSA felt in their hearts. It is the same fire that was felt in the hearts of the founding fathers of our very nation, The UNITED STATES of America. Though I believe their passions were misplaced, they still held the passion of a patriot. The passion of a freeman!

What I love more about this display however, is that our current nation is free. Free to worship who, where, or what we may. Free to have a press w/o influence of government. Free to peaceably assemble and/or petition our government for a redress of our grievances. And finally the freedom to speak our opinion w/o fear of oppression. In posting this video, I do not seek to voice an opinion of seccession, though others that may view this may. I post it to show just how free YOU AND I are!

There is nothing wrong with this flag. It has nothing to do with racism. It is a flag that stands for states' rights and opposition to a tyrannical federal government.

there's nothing wrong with the flag, but the people flying it know that it bothers people, and the only reason it is offensive is because of the history it has, and what it used to mean.

Everytime I see that beautiful flag, I think of my ancestors and my heritage.
