@MsDeejayreal I didnt know Chiefs name is Jeremiah . He was such a hero and his contribution to the society I will make sure he is never forgotten even after my death. Oh Great man you may be dead now but your legacies will forever live. Sir Garry Karters
Thank you for the documentary. I am a Nigerian who grew up in the U.S., so I have missed all the tribalism. There are many of us here in this community who are truly hungry for the history of Nigeria. Most of us want more of the historical facts, and clips like that of Mr. Awolowo's eloquent speech. The type of documentaries which allow us to draw our conclusions about Nigeria's past leaders. Thank you for this posting.
This is my own tiibute to papa awo....he was avisionary..First tv, radio station probaly in Africa.. Free Education, free heath care etc.e was smart to realise to build roads in small town so they can bring their produce to larger market (ie Lagos ,Ibadan)therefore prosperiity for small farmers, markert people..I bet you if Awo was in power , he wold have realized in order to have progressive nation , we need powerr/electicity to power all our industry etc.Awo. would have made it happen..
The Yoruba nation hold their civilization and sophistication to the late sage chief Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo,All the generation of yoruba race will never forget you ,the man whose name won election overwhelmingly thirteen years after his death may your soul rest in perfect peace.
jekoyemijohnson1 Chief Awolowo was a greate visionary and infatigable leader, jekoyemijohnson D whole Nigerians especially the Yorubas will continue to remember him for his contributions to the westerners, we shall continue to remember him for ever. Thank u ladisoyode Pls . post AWO LO F'OBA LE AWO LO'FOBA LE AND GBOGBO AWON ORE AWOLOWO GBOGBO WON LO JERI EKE MO by ONI-SUBERU & HIS ORCHESTRA FROM ONDO
Awolowo was a Yoruba leader, who gained this leadership role by providing social amenities, education and health to the people resident in the Yoruba speaking areas irrespective of their ethnic origin. He was never allowed to act as a Nigerian leader thats is the reason why we Yorubas will be thankful for all he did in the western region. Obasanjo allowed political parties to be based on ethnic origin in 1979 which further led to the development of anti-Awos especially by the Ibos.
Safari u are right, Igbos benefitted from free education, free health and cheaper University fees, l do not know how old u are but l was too young at the time l am 36now but u forget igbos have lived in Yoruba land for over a 100years Ibadan, Lagos, so we were also part and parcel of Yoruba society, he was a great man, if he was like Abiola he would have been president, Do not forget Igbos voted en masse for Abiola and Obasanjo, l am not anti Yoruba just stating the facts about Awolowo period.
The title of the video is misleading
