Demolition of the Queen of Hearts hotel in downtown Las Vegas on 2-2-2010. The sign and "crown" of the old Queen were safely lowered and transported off to the Neon Museum before the building was destroyed. This place was originally opened as the "Casbah" in 1965.... The new city hall project is going up where the Queen used to be..... Video footage by Greg Clarke.

  • I'm surprised LeavingLV(dot)net didn't cover this. I thought Vegas' demolition projects were on hold because of our troubled economy.

Great video, I find watching these old building go down both fascinating and heartbreaking.

  • Actually I sent a couple pics in to LLV--Joel put them up on the Facebook page of LLV--but he has not updated the website for some time. I have a bunch of shots of the demo up on Flickr. Thanks for watching!

  • Love the powerline arc @ 4:10 very well shot !!!

  • Now this is how to demo a building!!

  • @Clarrisani cool thank you

  • @canadiancatgreen The restored signs are up and running in Fremont Street. The Boneyard is at 821 Las Vegas Boulevard North.

  • @Clarrisani cool thank you sorry to ask but where is the Neon Musseum

  • @canadiancatgreen They went to the Neon Museum.

  • looks like another hotel was also being tron down what happens to the neat signs

  • I would like to see some preservation too, but its vegas glitz and glamor they are not that well built much of it is facade not like the old buildings of new york or the art deco while it too is facade it was stone on stone and not just steel frame, or glass on frame like the buildings of today this thing folds like a house of cards, it should have a little more resistance man.

and lol the bucket arc its like a balloon pop when you get drowsy .

  • Nicely done!
