Alex Crawford - A year to remember Part 3
The journalist looks back at 2011's major news stories, including the death of Osama bin Laden and the summer riots that took place in towns and cities across England. She also offers a personal reflection on the Arab Spring uprisings, having filed reports from the streets of Tripoli as Colonel Gaddafi's power crumbled.

Crawford was active in covering the course of the 2011 Libyan civil war. She was widely praised for her live on-scene reporting of the Battle of Tripoli. Crawford traveled with a rebel convoy into the heart of Tripoli, shooting direct live footage of the rebel advances, which reached Green Square with little resistance from pro-Gaddafi forces. She wore a helmet and bulletproof vest, stating that she did not feel in any danger, but wore them as a precaution against celebratory gunfire. She also covered the raid of Bab al-Azizia live from outside the compound, and was one of the first journalists to go inside once the raid was over.

  • Thanks Alex, we Libyans will always remember your report and your bravery to spread the truth to the world. Thanks.

  • Alex, as a Libyan who lost a lot of his friends and family members in this revolution, no words can describe how grateful and thankful I want to be for you. You are the bravest woman I have ever seen. Thank you so much, and you really really helped us.

  • @CaptainPredator77 because they are not sheep that will just lay down and let themselves be slaughtered. Would you? Plus, many soldiers deserted and joined them.

  • they started shooting the peaceful protesters first, and the armed people are soldiers and it was reaction on gaddafi soldier's fire

  • @CaptainPredator77 r u retarted ??!!! or u just been asmart ass here ??

  • Alex,

you commented on your report that they were innocent protesters then why when you arrived at the hotel there were heavy machine guns and armed group of people. No wonder army started shooting at them because they were armed and probably killed some of the army personnel before that. You also mentioned that US department got great deal of interest after watching your report. Well it was not your report Alex, it was something US department looking for to invade for decades.
