Ceremony by ASME to designate the Sholes & Glidden Type Writer as an engineering landmark. Held October 6, 2011 at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Typewriter developed by Christopher Latham Sholes, Carlos Glidden, Samuel Soule, Mathias Schwalbach and others. The Sholes & Glidden Type Writer was also known as a Remington 1. Typed in all CAPS. First use of the QUERTY keyboard, which became the standard arrangement for all keyboards.
