A great book to read if you like this stuff is "A piece of Cake" by Derek Robinson. A proper tally ho book written a while ago. If you start to read it all I say is give it chance. it focusses on the dark humours side of people and the total acceptance of death.

Battle of Britain, UK- 2543 pilots. 418 died. Polish-147 pilots. 30 died. New Zealand-101 pilots.14 died. Canada-94 pilots. 20 died. Czech-87 pilots. 8 died. Belgian-29 pilots. 6 died. South Africa-22pilots. 9 died. Australia-22 pilots. 14 died.
French-14pilots. 0 died. Eire-10pilots.0 died. USA- 7 pilots.1died.
I have to say the Belgian's-29, had twice as many as the French-14 that was a surprise.
The Poles & the Czech's were great fighters who got treated badly at the war's end,Thank you
