He acted ferociously towards what seemed like a piece of root. When I had my camera ready, he was nearly finished, it looked like he had been eating, although I have never watched him eat. I learned a bit on a dugesia website (thanks r2sanford) about how and what they eat. So maybe that is what he was doing at the beginning of the vid.

  • This is a Dendrocoelum lacteum, and it needs to eat to survive, like all the animals. You can see the food that it has in his gut (the brown branches divided in 3 parts: 1 anterior and 2 posteriors. This probably gets more transparent when they starve. Nice video.

  • But this ISN'T a DUGESIA specimen! IT is a more primitive triclad!
