he needs skin cell research
I for one, would like to see our country be first at something so incredibly important at stem cell research and treatment, WTF is wrong with using embryonic cells? many, many are thrown in the trash everyday.
an abortion is not needed, and so what if cells are gotten thru abortions. Are women going to have more abortions b/c?
get real. the abortion issue is drug out every time for elections. get over it.
if MEN got pregnant, abortions would be hailed as a sacrament!

The law forces couples who have completed fertility treatment to throw away left over cells they want to donate!
McCain/Palin are not pro-life for millions who are suffering with Diabetes & Parkinson's Disease or 73 other diseases!
When they say a cell about to be thrown away has the same value as a child living with illness, I hear their distain for the child & family!
The ideology of less than 25% of us should not dictate public health policy!

I totally agree with anachroeden! as a person with type 1 diabetes, I don't see what she's doing to her daughter and her future!

Diabetes is treated w/patient's own stem cells - it was reported in JAMA that 85% were off treatment. Embryonic stem cells don't actually work - they cause tumors and are rejected by the patient and THAT is why after working with them for 25+ years there is no where in the world that uses them in people. The skin cells he's talking about have treated sickle cell and Parkinson's in the less than 2 yrs. since their creation - they allow disease specific studies and patient specific treatments.

the big LIBERAL lie is that there is no ban on stem cell research...just government FUNDING.. drug companies can do stem cell research all thay want...

It's tragic that Regan's mother is willing to put her self-gratified and ignorant ideology ahead of her own daughter's welfare. She would rather see millions of frozen embryos destroyed rather than let them be used to help children (and adults) with diabetes.
