Uh, lol, because that's how it works with all artists who write a song that's used for a show. Most J-pop idols state this directly in their pamphlets that come with the CD, if one of the songs was used for a series. Think about it; was "I don't want to wait" written for Dawson's Creek? A lot of times, a production will ask an artist to write a theme song for the show, but it's still the artist's song, not the show's.
