No matter how much brown sugar I put in. It still taste very bitter and nothing like teriyaki sauce! Help!

@ragerawr Did you use Mirin? I do put about a tablespoon of teriyaki sauce in it too. Mirin is expensive, so I don't even make that anymore. I just use Kikomon teriyaki sauce now. I used to make this, but I don't because the mirin costs so much to buy.

@ragerawr go to Panda Express and ask for Mandarin Teriyaki Sauce. Its FREE! 1/3 cup

U guys can buy the Mirin @ Amazon as a last option. But I suggest visiting markets within predominantly Japanese communities first (like little tokyo). Thats what I do when I need to buy foreign ingredients.. I go to their markets and simply ask, the ppl there ussualy know a lot more concerning the ingredients and dishes Im cooking than anyone at Vons or Ralphs.
