The prices for comics nowadays is ridiculous. Like The New Avengers.... normal 32-page book....$3.99!!!! I like The New Avengers book but not enough to pay $3.99 for it. The Mighty Avengers on the other hand.....

You guys are dead right about the price issue. The latest issue of Marvel Previews (for March), the first 20 pages or so is almost completely $3.99 per book.
Stuff that has already come out like Astonishing Xmen Ghost Boxes which weren't even complete comics (I don't want ****ing copies of the goddam scripts) were 3.99 a pop...total ripoff
I've already canned a bunch of marvel titles that have increased in price in favour of DC titles which generally are lower priced...at the moment...

New Avengers 51 will cost $3.99 for a 32 page book...complete rip off imo. they're only charging that much because its one of marvels most popular books.

Well, both trades and monthlies are going up, so what do I know.
-
the price hike is so scarry. The readership is NOT increasing. Price hikes on superhero books aimed at a younger audience is going to backfire.
Marvel thinks they can get away with anything but it will catch up to them in a couple of years.----Just as it did in 1995

Ulimatum
The art is great, Jeff Loeb can't write, $2.99, I'd stick with it.
$3.99, I'll pass!!
-
new avengers #50 will cost 5 bucks!!!
-
the invincible iron man #1-7 was very very good!
It's completely reasonable to charge more on a collected edition. They charge more for the hardcover, and they charge more for having to reprint it. If someone didn't get it when it first came out, sorry for them, but they should be charged more for getting it late in the game. If charging more on hardbacks and trades will reduce the price of the single issues, the publishers should go for it.

Ahhhh...but that's the thing, the price of the singles aren't going down. With all the trades that are sold, they haven't affected monthly titles. Also, it costs less to reprint the material because you're not paying the creators the same rate as when you produced the singles, so you're actually seeing publishers upping the cost and pocketing the difference. What they should be doing is keeping the trades affordable for casual readers, so that they will later go onto the monthlies.
