  • I read about this in The Children of Húrin and The Silmarillion, plus some words about it in Lord of the Rings.

    It is amazing to be able to understand such a masterpiece.

    Thank you so much for posting this Geodel21!

  • @KlausDigestive you're welcome! You can find all the songs by "the Tolkien Ensemble" on two cd's : An evening in Rivendell and a Night in Rivendell.

  • @Geodel21 actually there are four cd's. I have At Dawn in Rivendell. The other is Leaving Rivendell.

  • @Estelnin thank you! I didn't know

  • A primeira estrofe em português é assim.

    As folhas longas, verde a grama,

    Esguia é da cicuta a umbela;

    No prado há luz que se derrama

    De um céu de estrelas a,fulgir,

    Tinúviel dançando bela,

    Ao som que flauta oculta inflama;

    Há estrelas nos cabelos dela

    E no seu manto a reluzir

  • this is simply not how i pictured this song to be sung. its not subtle, not soft, the singing is harsh and while i'm not saying it was bad is not appropriate for this song.

  • I would have liked it if there were Elvish lyrics next to it... but nice video!

  • does anyone know where I can get this song seperate from the Tolkien Ensemble? I don't care that much for the other songs, but I love this one and listen to it constantly and would love to have it in my music collection.

  • Wonderful song, one of my favourites by the Tolkien Ensemble.

    To those who complain that this isn't how it would have 'actually' sounded in ME (piano etc): You're right, but I think you are seeing it the wrong way. The Tolkien Ensemble isn't trying to be authentic (even as far as you can be to a fictional world); they just saw the poems of LotR as exactly that -- poems -- and then set them to music as they would set any other poem. So just enjoy the music on it own terms :)

  • I assume this isn't supposed to be in the same context as it appears in the book, its hard to imagine Aragorn as a bass...

  • great, i love this song. It's great to have it with lyrics

  • Love this. I cried, so sad and beautiful.
