  • Do it without something holding down your feet, it's much harder on the core muscles

  • my gym teacher makes us do it without stuff to hold our feet

  • well dont asssume everyone on youtube is and debilitated idiot...

  • it wont heart your back

  • using weights to hold down is one of the best ways to hurt your lower back, especially without proper know how, ability, or supervision. The weight might be good for those who are returnees getting back into shape but know how and what they are doing. Otherwise its best to use and develope your own strength and discipline. What will you do without the weights doing the work you should be doing.

  • mr thomasp

    he doing the rhigt way

  • Yeah this is actually true...

If you support your feet and bend at the hips you work the hip flexors. Keeping your knees bent, feet flat and doing crunches is much better as your hips dont move and you abdominals have to do the work contracting. Bending at the waist is very ineffective for the abs. So I don't know why people are giving this the thumbs down.....

  • ... No.2, this exercise does, as robbty18 rightly stated, engage the hip flexors when the spine flexes past approximately 30 degrees, taking away the influence of the rectus abdominis. Doing the crunch exercise alone tends to hold more benefits than this exercise.

  • Please tell me how this is effecting the core muscles?

In fact please tell me if you know the what the core muscles are?

No.1, orthodox sit-ups primarily activate the rectus abdominis and have very little impact upon the core muscles (i.e. transverse abdominis, internal obliques, psoas and multifidus muscles)....
