@kgarmaker123 I totally agree. Considering she could sing an enormous, sustained E natural at forte until 1954, it is unlikely that she could not at the very least lunge to a tenuous G6. It's equally unlikely that she couldn't vocalize below F#.

oh god, devia is a really good singer, of course you can not compare her to callas, but still. and if she can hit a secure f, and she proved it several times that she can, why shouldnt she do this? callas sung often an E natural, that is just half tone lower than f, and that was fine, but singing high f's is something wrong?

I think the aria sounds pefect in Italian. As for Callas, she both projected large and ethereal sound, and instinctively showed wonderful understanding of Mozart. She doesn't try to make the music more dramatic than it is. It takes a great amount of love and freedom to sing this way .

How do you know she only hit an F once? She probably vocalized to F frequently. My suspicion is like Sills, who had no appetite for high F's either, is that they were not always reliable. And unlike singers like Devia who has to prove she can hit High z to make her a singer. Callas had already proven that.
