Senator Joe Biden is perhaps Amtrak's best known job commuter. He often talks about his daily train rides from Wilmington to Washington, frequently saying "I'm Mr. Amtrak" in interviews.
But what few people, perhaps even including Senator Biden, know about Amtrak service in Delaware is that Senator Biden's state has seen the largest per capita loss of Amtrak riders of any state in the U.S. ever since Congress passed a law that has doubled the cost of commuting to a job outside of Delaware -- from about $10,000 pre-tax dollars in 2005 to about $20,000 today.
Delaware has been devastated! While Amtrak ridership has soared elsewhere in the country, Mr. Amtrak's home state has seen people moving out of state because they can no longer afford to get to work.
Senator Biden, ironically, is one of the few Delaware citizens still able to afford the ride to work, thanks to the "Commuter-Killer Law" that Senator Biden was tricked into voting for back in 2005!
I've been investigating Amtrak and working as a private citizen to change that law for three years now. I would appreciate it if Senator Biden would help.

AMTRAK is expensive along the Northeast Corridor.
I was shocked when I went to Wilmington and rode to DC.
So much for mass transit.
Or rail systems that the government has a hand in.
Wait till they get their hand into your health care.
