On July, 21, 1861, Union and Confederate armies fought what was then the largest battle in American history at Manassas, Va. Participants saved or collected souvenirs and relics of the battle and many of those items found their way into the collections of The Museum of the Confederacy. This video uses those artifacts, including one very unique map drawn on a bedsheet by a wounded soldier, to tell the story of the battle.
I'm a member of the MoC from Mass. and I, too, thought it was "different". Kudos for this video. I wish I could get down there more often. They are really trying to do a lot during the next 4 years in Richmond and seem to be getting support from the VA Gov. If you are a "Union fan" like me, do not assume you will get a lot of the "Lost Cause" nostalgia flying in the face of real facts. They are respectful of history (IMHO).

Does anyone else find it strange that the "Museum of the Confederacy" would use a Union song (The Battle Hymn of the Republic) as background to a video on the First Battle of Manassas? Might as well have called it First Bull Run!
