no! a van de graff came like 20-30 yrs after the tesla coil!almost seems like the tesla coil was stolen again when you look at the design of a van de graph,hmm...this is a tesla coil with the top terminal connected to the insulated argon bulb and allowed to fire at the grounding rod/plate in the air! remember the tesla coil came first! some day i will be able to build this stuff lol. great work kva.

Feed the beam to the teslacoil with fiberoptic cable for electric insulation.
And mount some battery powered mirror servo on top for aiming.
Damn If I had the money I would really make myself the tesla tank :D
