@ResidentLR I don't know about Beatles being more rock. The Kinks did their fair share of "rocking" out too as much as the quaint dreamy stuff. I don't find the Kinks being all that dreamy though. Davies writes/wrote a lot of witty commentary lyrics about relationships and society, basic life.Really more targeting the UK, a lot of it goes over the heads of American listeners like myself. I only know or understand so much about UK life, but, I think I can understand Davies' stuff.

Probably my favorite moment on this LP. Love that harpsichord, how the song kicks off in the middle, those wonderful witty lyrics. Awesome stuff. Great great LP.

I saw this on concert on TV and it was great.

Relax my friends, time will shake-out the box. The Kinks are the Dickens of Ditty, existing outside the meagre genre of Rock 'n' Roll.

@Voxac100b ...I doubt it - a most over rated and arrogant person.

SO NEAT !

There's nothing wrong with comparing The Kinks to other bands, especially other bands of the same period. The Kinks had a soft, dreamy sound with a bit of angst hidden inside. The Stones were more rock. The Beatles, fortunately, were leaving behind their British pop sound. They are all great. If you disagree, that's fine; it's an open forum. Remember Socrates? Even in death he encouraged dialectics.
However, posting a crude and whiny post won't convince anyone who has a taste in music.
