Temasek Secondary School's Solar powered crab proves a design hit at the National Junior Solar SPrint COpetition 2010 on 9 June 2010
Recycled materials with a touch of Science, maths and engineering principles thrown in help some 180 secondary school teachers and students from 45 schools creat ingenious designed for the competition
The objectives of the race competition of mini-solar cars were to raise awreness of renewable engery and environment protection. While designing the cars, the knowledge of science, maths and engineering principles are applied in this fun , hand-on education activity.
Bukit Metah Secondary school raced down the sloping 25m track and emerged the champion, clocking in at 9.07 seconds,. Hill grove secondary school took the 1st runner up position with a timing of 10.9 seconds while Bedok Green Secondary school was the 2nd runner up at 11.44 Seconds
Temasek Secondary School scored a double victory wth a crab design, winning the Best Designed Car and Most Popular Car titles
