TAB AVAILABLE READ ON...another from Naudos catalouge. This one is a bit trickier; in fact it is kind of improvised. I sing the song in my head as I go but I can never remember the words ;) I've been working on this one on and off for about 3 months, so be warned, it isn't one of his harder ones, but playing it cleanly (which I still can't) isn't easy!

Note that Naudo plays this dropped D. I found it a little easier to play it standard tuning, but it does miss out on that excellent bah-dum D bass note. You'll also notice that I don't get the double bass note down as well or as often as Naudo...I'm just not good enough yet ;)

Peter Buck came up with a great sound in this song...as with a lot of REM songs the meaning is kinda vauge, according to Wikipedia it is essentially about "being at the end of one's rope".

Tab is only a rough skeleton, if you can play this tune you'll work it out ;)

  • 2 minutes ago i wanted to play fifa 12 now i want to learn that song thank you for your inspiration :D

  • @DJmaex1 Ha ha, yeah, that's the spirit :) I'm just passing on inspiration, it was The Master himself, Naudo, that got me away from playing games and watching TV and putting that time into guitar!

Hi Jaw, at what age did you really get back into guitar? Also wondering, are you good at improv. or are you mostly good at sight reading and learning from tab.?

  • @meangreen4321 Hopeless at improvisation, I don't do it. Spending half a lifetime playing guitar by myself will do that. You either need to be playing with others, or really want to play against backing tracks to develop improv skills...and have a good working knowledge of music. I've got none of that :)

Really started getting back into guitar 1997 (mostly original stuff) and really started to get into fingerstyle covers about 2002, and once I discovered Naudo in 2006...well...!!!

  • totally didn't mean to double post, lol. Was trying to fix my typo.

    Nice vid too btw

  • @jawmunji It's amazing what a little inspiration can do too. I inspired my best friend to start playing guitar back in the day. 5 years later, he's better than me. Of course, i've put it on the secondary list now, behind family and career, but man... I miss spending an entire day just playing... Those were the days.
