The finest Samson of our time, Domingo was the only tenor with the vocal authority to sing this great role after Vickers. Carreras was a disaster- a pipsqueak voice. Carreras set about destroying his great lyric gift and succeeded by the time he took on this very dramatic role. Bravo Domingo- he will be remembered as the great artist of our time.

IMO he was at his best in the German and heavier french stuff. sounds silly I know but they didn't show up his forced upper register as much.

estuve viendo la representación de José Curo en el 2003 en Royal Opera House de Londres esta misma ópera y también la bordó Cura, hace una representación muy buena.

Carreras in his youth was also a very good and convincing Samson, he has in 2003 sung this very very very well too.
