  • all dynos are not the same. Dynojets will read higher than mustang. LS2 GTO's dyno like 330-340 average on a dynojet and like 300-320 on a mustang dyno. 04's will dyno 280 on a mustang dyno... maybe 300 or more on a dynojet.

on top of that, you can fiddle with a dynojet to make the readings different. a lot of shops do it to trump up how much their work has "added" horsepower to a car.

346 is kind of low, but maybe he is on a mustang dyno. he also probably could use a better tune.

  • It was a Dynojet. One thing impacting the readings is that it was 110 degrees in Phoenix and humid as hell. I also forgot to turn off the traction control which some say leads to lower readings.

Agree on the tune. I don't have a custom tune. Just using the canned Predator tune which obviously isn't the best.

  • what size headers? 1 3/4 or 7/8?

  • 1 3/4

  • How come you only put down under 350? The LS1 GTO is capable of 350 stock, let alone the LS2 that your GTO has should be getting 400. What's going on with the numbers?

  • 400 for the LS2 is the manufacturer rating at the flywheel. The dyno measures HP at the rear wheels, which typically measure 15-20 percent less than flywheel due to power lost thru the drivetrain.

  • @fastgrandprix99 400 flywheel horsepower will not ever equal 400 wheel horsepower, unless the manufacturer underrates the engine. 03/04 Machs were rated at 325 flywheel horsepower and made 280ish whp because Ford rated them correctly. 03/04 Cobras were rated at 390 but made anywhere from 360 to 390 whp because they were underrated. Many estimate the true flywheel horsepower at 425ish, not 390 like Ford said.

  • ford does not rate their cars at the wheels. sorry.

  • Something is very wrong with this car if its not over 400 with all those mods.. I have a SLP loudmouth 2 and a Linfelter Intake... NO headers.. and i dynoed 376hp 343 ft.lbs in my 06 gto

  • i cant believe that they arnt 400 at the ground. Just a few years ago ford got into a bunch of trouble for advertizing there cobras at 330 when they were only 280 at the ground.

  • My '04 put down 307rwhp when it was bone stock. I've seen many '04's put down just over 300hp in stock form. I've also seen many '05-'06's put down in the 340's stock. I think you may want to re-check your info.
