awesome tutorials is there neway you could some instances where we/you would use the prefader sends and vice versa?

Excellent video!!!!!! Can you do a video that shows how to side chain using EQ (similar to de-essing)?

Thanks for sharing. I feel this along with parallel compression on the drums could potentially make for big drums that have a tight relationship with the bass.

Thanks Joe, I've been playing with this in my mixes but wasn't sure exactly how it was done. Now I know.

I think Joe meant fast attack....1.7ms not slow attack. It needs to be a fast attack for the bass to be compressed immediately to let the kick transient through. :-)

Hey is there a way to have this only affected by the kick and not the snare? I noticed in the clip that the snare was taking from the bass as well. Is this what the HF and LF knobs are for?
btw, can't you cut frequencies from the bass track with an EQ and get the same results?

@DaCapo2010 Not the same resulting. EQ can be used to turn down a specific frequency range. Side-chaining is used to turn down the ENTIRE bass track briefly.

Joe, at around 5 mins and 6 seconds you said that the bass would be turned down fairly quickly, but with a slow attack...This statement seems kind of confusing.

@joe0404 Hi Joe. Yeah, I misspoke. If you look at the actual attack parameter, you'll see that it's very fast. (I meant to say "low" instead of "slow.")
