Jonathan explores the wreck of the 700 foot long Prinz Eugen at Kwajalein atoll where it sank after being the target of two atom bomb tests at Bikini Atoll.
The Prinz Eugen makes an interesting story and despite it being a Nazi ship it is sad to see it how a once mighty warship has ended up. A good vid guys, and another lesson on the sensless waste of war.
While working in Kwajalein atoll from July to Nov.2002 at the base there(USAKA),I went on a dive to that ship. When I first got there I did not believe it was the Prinz Eugen.I know its history and it is sad to see it where it is now.I only been to the ship on one dive, and made it half way along the ship. The bow is around 104 feet. Also you are not allowed to make entry into the ship anymore.I tried to sit in one of the AAA mounts on the side.I saw shells, and other spent ammo laying around.
In the scuba diving school Im going to next year they take you on two wreck dives.
I caaaaant waaaaaait.

The mighty EUGEN! How many refugees from the east owe their lives to this ship?

it is possible in theory the CIA raised part of K 129 in project jennifer with the Glomar Explorer, but it would be costly

Sad sight to see the Prinz Eugen like this. It was the only heavy German war ship to survive the war, and it was such a beautiful cruiser.

A couple of years ago I have read something in Internet about the possibilty of raising the "Prinz" and transform the ship into a museum ...
Despite the huge amount of money, is it technically possible to achieve this project ??
Thanks for the video, sad, but interesting ...

Heh, the guy is experienced enough to use a SCR, not kick up silt and do accelerated deco but he still 'swims' with his hands.
That is OW noob stuff right there ...
