For the internally displaced in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, safety is a rare commodity. The UN refugee agency manages 13 camps set up to help the displaced regain some sense of security.
In eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, more than 100,000 internally displaced Congolese have sought safety in 13 camps run by the UN refugee agency. While the camps provide greater safety, an atmosphere of lawlessness pervades the region. Anyone who ventures outside the camps is a potential victim. In a conflict where rape has become a weapon, women are especially vulnerable.
Interesting video that highlights the horrible conditions in refugee camps - thanks for putting it out there.
I sincerely hope you received permission from all those women and other refugees identified in the video, especiall the rape victims identified physically and by name. Releasing this information can put these women under more danger, so their names and faces should only be published with their consent.
