We use Parrot's AR.Drone in collaboration with a UGV to create augmented maps (consisting of 2d ground maps and point cloud maps of elevated areas). The maps are built to exact scale, are accurate and more comprehensive than just 2D maps. The complete system was built in ROS.
P.S. The ground robot shown in the tracking section was developed in-house and does not carry a SICK laser. A Pioneer 3DX was ultimately used as the UGV.
