I've come to the conclusion that most christians don't believe in christianity at all, it just makes a handy tool for adding a thin veneer of respectability to their extremist political opinions. After all, the bible has quite a lot to say about tolerance, forgiveness, compassion, helping the poor and turning the other cheek and that doesn't really seem to square with the political views of the people who choose to call themselves "christian" these days.

@diediekiller Religion it use to be stupid but it just got worse. :3

I used to be a Christian...But then i took a reality to the brain.

If christianity/islam were fictional genres of entertainment, I would probably be a big fan of it. But no, it became a socially destructive perverse philosophy which has survived over two thousand years through church brainwashing.

@bogartnumbertwo Really? I will destroy them. VOTE FOR ME!
"If we didn't have people who literally believed it, it would be an amazing piece of mythology."
When I come to power, that will be printed on the cover of every religious text.

Actually, I can see a deeper problem with the story, even if it were taken purely as a myth.
See... it could be argued that the tower wasn't what really pissed Yahweh off... rather... it could be, given Yahweh's track record, that humanity uniting at all was the real threat to him. Or at least what he was really pissed about. In that case, this story becomes a disgustingly pro-tribalism, pro-xenophobia kind of myth. This kind of myth has never been particularly positive.
