'Mountain Time' is one of my favorite songs from the phenomenal Joe Bonamassa. It is an incredibly BEAUTIFUL song ....... all at once dramatic, romantic, smooth AND rockin' ....... just like the man himself.

In my estimation, this song nears perfection..... it offers everything - exquisite notes, emotional phrasing, and a tenderness and sweetness that is all wrapped up with an incredibly passionate ribbon of raw INTENSITY and ENERGY. Wow.

Yet another gem from the brilliant mind and the gifted hands of Joe Bonamassa, THE WORLD'S BEST BLUES ROCK GUITARIST!!! He is supported by three of my favorite musicians (and people), Mr. Carmine Rojas, on bass, Mr. Rick Melick on keyboards, and Mr. Bogie Bowles on drums. WHAT a BAND!!!!

'Mountain Time' was written by Joe Bonamassa and Will Jennings. The magnificent guitar shown here is a Gigliotti. Gorgeous, isn't it??

I shot this video on June 22, 2008 at The Fraze Pavillion in Kettering, Ohio. It was the last of a three show run I attended in "Johio" last summer to celebrate my birthday. Yeah!!! Please forgive the wobbling of my camera. Goodness..... I'm going to HAVE to remember NOT to steady myself against any more BIG speakers....... the louder the music...... the more I bounced!!! Imagine THAT!!! LOL. I think I finally saw the results in my viewfinder and moved away from it. Hahahaha!!

By the way, Joe's performance was cut short on this evening, due to a POWERFUL thunderstorm that rolled through. We were all asked to leave the premises, for safety's sake, and told that we could wait it out in our cars, etc., if we chose to....... that POSSIBLY Joe could come back, IF the lightning stopped. Well, of COURSE we waited, and he did come back for the 500 faithful, soggy, but VERY appreciative and happy fans. Sadly, due to a noise curphew, he was only able to play for another half hour...... and BOY did he give us every single minute that he could. Graciously, and certainly unnecessarily, he also rescheduled the entire performance for a later date in the summer, and the Fraze honored the tickets of those who could return. Another flight back to Ohio was just not in the cards for me. Alas............. This was a GREAT great night though....... with great friends and great performances by Joe and the boys. :)

  • I remember the rain, i also remember him after the rain, i also remember his down ro earth self at the madison in ky. he is as good as gold. . and dont forget the promise he kept for the august show after the rain at kettering. he didnt have to come back.......... and he did. he hasnt sold out.

  • It's all about the money now! I remember going to Gilly's in Dayton and being on his guest list... not anymore! I guess commercial success takes over now.

He was better when Eric & Kenny were with him. IMO

  • Sorry you feel that way. I certainly don't. It is not all about the money for Joe, of that much I am sure.

  • awesome video Libby! I saw myself with my kids in the front row there. What a great night!

  • It WAS a great night.... FILLED with great music, great friends, and great ADVENTURE!! We don't get rain like that in Southern California!! I miss thunderstorms!! I have more video from that night..... just running a bit behind in my uploading..... like about 400 videos behind. :) You may want to subscribe so that you can see more if/when I post them. • I saw him play this on the Gigliotti at Smokin' Moes (a bar in Winter Park, CO that seats 140). He'd brought the rolling case of 13 guitars. Got to shake his hand afterwards. He had not started working out, and still was a bit chubby.

He signed the deal with Gibson soon after this recording. Now that's all that he plays. Gibsons are great guitars, but nothing sounds as good as the Gigliotti on this song.

  • That's one of the reasons I chose to post this video as it certainly is not one of my best..... but it does have the golden glistening Gigliottii..... doesn't it?? Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of it anyway. I'm sure that somehow, someday we'll see it again. :)

  • Sadly, Joe has signed a contract with Gibson, and now that's all he plays. No Gigliotti, no Chandler LectraSlide. I know they're paying for a lot of marketing, which is getting him air time. I just miss the array of guitars that he used to play.

  • i have the a Gigliotti on auction on ebay
