Paul Emmett (trombone) and Joe Beech (piano) perform this impromtu arrangement of The Acrobat by J. A. Greenwood, arranged by Paul for 5 trombone, (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass and Plastic) and piano.

This was the first attempt at the piece by Paul and Joe, and although Paul has played The Acrobat before, it was only on one trombone!

Please excuse anty dodgy moments with the tuning and keep an eye out for more videos to follow where we will be building on our recital repertoire!

  • @JackNpercy I'm sure you're aware of the sentiment with which we recorded this - a joke!! Neither of us would ever claim we played it technically perfectly - however I think Paul and I both got far more enjoyment out of sightreading the piece in this very 'unusual' way than playing it in the standard way which everyone knows, and I think the YouTube audience will enjoy our different take on this trombone classic! After all - enjoyment is the principal reason we all do music, I'm sure you agree!

  • you played the main melody first time near perfect, well done, might want to practise the opening section as this part when played correctly really makes the story of the piece really work... also the second section is difficult i find, so playing on that little trombone was a good effort :) another thing with this piece, and i know the pianist is sight reading, is the timing has to be correct to get the atmosphere of the piece... im still trying to master this piece on just the one bass trombon

  • Might want to tune the soprano trombone next time we do this Paul :')

  • Loving the pBone! :)

  • Genius!!
