(Not Bongo Flava, this is genuine Tanzanian Hip Hop)
Report by Dutch national tv (Netwerk, presenter speaks Dutch but the interviews are in English) from June 2005 about X Plastaz, the Tanzanian hip hop crew who merge Swahili rap and traditional Maasai chanting. The video shows X Plastaz recording in the studio of Kid Sundance, the Dutch producer who also released 12 inches with Declaime and Busy Bee. The beat is that of 'Cheza', the latest X Plastaz single which is available on the National Geographic compilation 'GeoRemixed: Big Beats For A Small Planet'.
Then the group is followed to a community performance in the city of Almere where Yamat, the Maasai singer/warrior explains how he had to kill lions all by himself using only a short spear.

He's talking about Africans in little African vilages. LISTEN/REED before you show what you're made of.
Mind you.
Pop charts are democratic i.e. what the population want to spend money on is what gets airplay.
But why do these eurocentric blingbling lovers complain about what they want to spend money on?
They are buying theyr self selected truth.

haha he said that the Americans rap about money and cars and the life, when they have nothing. So true. They pretend they do to sell records and keep the ghetto dream still alive. Sad really. Poor ppl think they can achieve greatness through rap, cuz thats what phony rappers rap about. But, they're lying and being totally misleading. it's all bout the dollar dollar bills. not sending a positive message throught music like it should.

Be strong my brothers from Afrika. I HEAR what you are saying. A lot of folks need to listen to what you are saying and stop the violence; even in our perspective we can miss the whole point of ART! Wake up and be accountable everybody. Time is running out.
