On April 8, 2009, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow and Eugene Robinson discuss the "really crazy" lie that GOP legislators like Boehner, McConnell, and Bachmann have been spreading that an MIT study says cap and trade legislation is a $3100 tax -- when the study actually says that such clean energy legislation would prevent catastrophic global warming, lower oil, gas, and coal prices, and give working families an economic boost.

There are two options on the table. If you oppose carbon rationing, you support business as usual. Business as usual is the correct course of action, if global warming isn't happening, or isn't a result of human activity. But according to virtually every climate scientist currently studying the issue, that's exactly what's happening, and why. Sure, it would be nice to keep electric rates and gas prices low, but we can't pretend that doing so will be free of catastrophic consequences.

Well why don't we just wait and see, since we can't stop this "cap 'n trade" legislation from going into effect. Say a year after the bill goes into law, if the average American family's energy costs have climbed by a significant number...then I guess we can determine just who the liar is, can't we?

The question is, if Maddow is wrong, will she admit that she lied about the bill?

It's going to be a bumpy long ride to 11/2/10.

I can't believe they still use the Washington Post as reliable source for economics. They are directly in line with the Trilateral Commission and Bilderberg Group, These groups only want to control all natural recourses and tax everything.
