This installation featured performing artists Catherine Lee, Laura Crema and Angela Brown, interacting with audio-visual digital media, live music, an inflatable kinetic sculpture and due to the close proximity - the festival participants. The performers use a style of inquiry based on a concept of integrating voice and movement called Vocal Body, in development by Catherine Lee since graduating from York University Dance Department in 1973. The costumes and inflatable kinetic sculpture used in the project were designed and built by our international collaborator Evelyn Roth, a Canadian artist now living in Australia. The white surfaces act as highly mutable neutral screens and flexible interactive environment for the performers. The live mix of projected visual digital media include images from paintings by Angela Brown, (see crone slideshow) as well as solid colours, live super-imposition, pre-recorded video clips and live line drawing. The live mix soundscape contains recorded digital media ranging in tone from natural to synthetic combined with live saxophone and pitch riding.
