An interview with Jennifer Mercer of the World Health Organization (WHO), following her presentation at the International Emerging Technology Symposium.
During the symposium, Jennifer presented a brief overview of the role of the World Health Organization in preventing waterborne disease. In addition, she spoke of the importance of plumbing in preventing waterborne disease. Jennifer also spoke of the World Health Organization and the World Plumbing Councils current work to raise the profile of the importance of plumbing in protecting public health. Work includes an issue paper on approaches to developing and implementing plumbing regulations in order to protect public health and a Health and Environmental Lexicon with a goal to standardize plumbing terminology internationally.
