While I'm still in the mood for Castlevania, let us dive into the SNES Dracula X. This is essentially a very watered down version of Dracula X: Rondo of Blood for the PC Engine. This is the harder game, but mainly because of frustrating level design. They also changed some the bosses attacks. Overall, they seem to move and react faster, so having played Rondo before hand won't necessarily prepare you adequately. Honestly, there was no excuse for Konami to not make a more direct SNES port of Rondo.
This is still not a bad game, just a flawed one that exists in the shadow its predecessor. On the bright side, the soundtrack of Rondo is recreated quite well on the SNES, though obviously it is not CD quality.
So here's the intro. Nothing special. The dark priest Shaft has been removed from the storyline, as have the other kidnapped women. And there's no playing as Maria. You'll also note that the anime style of Rondo was not maintained in any cut scenes. All we get is some rather drab looking American comic-book style art. Super Castlevania 4 looked much better, and it came out four years earlier!
