Food prices are escalating because of rising fuel costs. The USA has more coal than Saudi Arabia has oil, and Germany in the 1940s and South Africa in the 1970s and 80s showed that synthetic fuels IS a viable alternative to imported crude oil. Never in history has a nation so powerful as the USA chosen to deny itself its own raw materials and instead funnel money to its enemies in order to pay for something (energy) that it has in abundance.

I saw some bare shelves at Natural grocers and a big Asian market here in Austin Texas yesterday. I have never seen this before. It was only about 1% but still unusual to me.

Be afraid, be very afraid!! The only thing rising is the value of the greatest commodity of the modern age, FEAR. These peddlers of fear are working for the very people and agendas they claim to be "warning" about. Fear is the biggest fraud humanity has ever faced. This planet has the capacity of feed three times its current population! I'm sure retailers and their stock holders thank you dearly for your great assistance in spreading panic and higher prices!
