What is the purpose of calibrating the SMAN3 to a known bottle of refrigerant?

It's so you have the calibration at 0 psi (zeroing it out) and also at a higher pressure. If you only adjust to zero the measurement can get skewed at higher pressure. Also in some states there are laws that require this.

I bought the sman3 and it messed up and I was told to send it in and they would replace or repair it. That was three months ago and still haven't recieved it and I called and they keep saying they didn't recieve it. I am a fieldpiece man and I work as a hvac instructor and was pushing for them to use all fieldpiece products until this. I am really disapointed and I am without gauges to teach class and I have personally got several sets sold to graduateing students. Thanks fieldpiece.

I really like this Sman3. I am still learning how to use it. I would like to see you show a few videos of it in use on several different systems involving different situations in real time.

I got the sman3 recently, replacing my mastercool digital manifold I got last year. I have had nothing but problems with the mastercool (sent back for the third time for the screen freezing up). So far I have no problems whatsoever with the sman3. It is fairly intuitive and provides a lot more info at your fingertips which can be crucial when you are troubleshooting a real pain in the butt system. And no, I am not a shill.

@VR4151 It does have pressure/temp integrated into the software. If you just press the circle button, it will display both low and high side sat temps right below the pressure.

i agreed with vr5141 i been using mine for about a month(sman3)and one of the blue clamps it got broke already now i have to buy another one im pretty sure tech are going to have the same problem but still a good tool to have

Just got mine, think I'm gonna send it back. Reasons, 1st @ this price it should come with hoses. 2nd Even on a set of cheap gauges there is a press/temp chart I'll know that R22 @ 60psi is 32 deg. 3rd wires are all over the place, not easy to keep organized. I could live with everything else but I gotta have a press/temp chart. If I'm paying that kind of money I shouldn't be pulling out a piece of paper ie press/temp chart.

not a bad guage set, been using mine for about a month now (sman3)... only complaint about them is the temp scale for pressure and temp is locked in as psi / 'f and kpa / 'c... it may be weird i dont know, but i'm used to using psi with 'c. i guess good thing about it you can get quick superheat and subcooling measurements in both 'f and 'c just by pushing units button...
