I ran into Newsweek article seen at http://www.newsweek.com/id/235894 and wondered about Gallaudet University and Deaf Education. It reminded me of what a wise Native American Elder man once said. He said that our education would fail us because we lacked spirituality. Well, not only did it fail us (deaf people) but it failed hearing people as well.

You had mentioned that education failed people because it was without spirituality. If someone inherently is spiritual, and decides to pursue higher education, do you think education would fail them then? I think in some ways, education may fail people. Then again, I think education is a very subjective, personal experience. I liked you Vlog, though. You brought up very good discussion points, something to think about.

HELLO to EVERYONE ~ I agree with LIVING SPIRITS ~ I learned alot about INNER SOURCES than OUTSIDE SOURCES since 1976 ~ I knew most deafies missed it already, too.. ~ I talked to my late Dad about the LIFE THINGS, he told me that I should fellow my own heart than outside, got it?

So you are saying that it is best for people to be ignorant. It is best for people to be blind and to not question anything. I'm sorry, you sound like a cult leader. Spirituality is fine, theres no reason that education needs to prevent Spirituality. But since when has it ever ever helped anyone to not go after a education so they could learn to communicate, to read, to make technology that will help feed and sustain life. You really think its better to go back to the Dark Ages?

@jjochems Putting words into my mouth isn't effective. It won't work. Never said it's better for people to be ignorant. In order to be a cult leader one has to lead a a group of followers. I've got none. I have many fans but I make sure they don't follow. If they do, I tell them to think independently, as I've done many times in my other vlogs / video comments. Not paying attention? I understand but if you don't pay attention your effort to discredit me won't work. Learn from it.

@jjochems Part 2... I never said we should not go after education. I was referring to traditional liberal arts. It's no longer in demand by the job market. There are so many different ways to get your education but you only seem to know one way to get it, which is an unfortunate reflection of this dysfunctional society. Dark ages? Who said anything about dark ages? Broaden up that narrow mindset of yours. It might help a bit.

I agree with jjochems. The bottom line, you're basing this off from a stereotype source. And to top that, you're against books because it's full of words, lack of spirituality. I disagree, but let say you're right, why did you read (i.e. Death of Liberal Arts) in first place?
Ultimate 1 month ago
@Ultimate You missed your target. I was referring to books when I said I don't like to read them. The 'Death of Liberal Arts' material I was reading was a mere article containing several pages. Not a book. Duh.

Dear Barry,
What spirituality did you refer to? I will never agree that Deafhood is a religion organization. Without being labelled it as a relgion organization, I fully support Deafhood.
Sending a student to Gallaudet is good place for educational purpose and to restore his/her true identity and to come out of oppression he/she is experienced in their past.
What spirituality were you talking about? Would you please clarify it. Thank you.

@alertbayDeafboy Hi John. Spirituality means exactly that. It is not about a name of a religion. Not about the name of church. It's spiritual. I'd suggest you read what it means in a dictionary. So, Gallaudet is good for one who want to restore their identities? Is that what Gallaudet is for? If so, I'm glad I didn't attend. If I did, I'd have the same mindset as the rest of you do.
