  • You know what would work? If everyone just stopped making a huge deal out of gays, gay marriage, and gay rights.

People are killed for being gay, yes.

People are killed for being black.

People are killed for being from a certain country.

People are killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

People are killed for being mixed up in the wrong crowd.

Doesn't seem to be days for any of those things.

Do straights have a, "Coming out," day?

  • @CharlieFagface "Do straights have a, "Coming out," day?"

That depends. Do people commonly assume that everyone is gay until proven otherwise?

"I don't know any other sexual preference that does this, or at least not nearly as often."

Um, mostly because we are a "we".

"Should there be a day to say I'm not Christian? That's also frowned upon."

    Go for it!

  • @FuckaeNDumbgirl Choosing to cross/flirt with typical gender roles/boundaries is something some people want to do. Everyone who is gay doesn't have the same personality, and gay people don't all make the same choices. Cross-dressing doesn't mean you wish you were a woman nor that someone interested in you is interested in women. You should be more open minded, and learn more about the variety of ways homosexual men might choose to live/act. ;)

  • Gay or lesbian? There is a difference.

  • 'Cause the closet is nice and comfy. I had a friend who slept in a closet, for a while. But that is possibly unrelated.

  • Wait....you're gay?

  • but it's scary.

  • @CharlieFagface That's kind of the idea isn't it, that eventually it wont be an issue? But the fact is, people do make a big deal out of gay people and often in a seriously negative way. If gay people and allies didn't make an issue out of it, bigots would continue to marginalize people over their sexuality. That, I think is the entire purpose behind the various "pride" movements; they are about coming out and saying that they differ from the norm and it's not a bad thing.

"Do people commonly assume that everyone is gay until proven otherwise?"

If, by people, you mean me, then yes. People do assume that everyone is gay until proven otherwise.

  • @CharlieFagface I've never been harassed for being straight, like people are killed specifically for all the other reasons you mentioned. 'Hate crimes' of all kinds are significant and should be prevented, including those against homosexuals. so having a "coming out day" is a way to give a voice to non-straight people. It's not to downplay the significance of anyone else's hardships, as heartbreaking as it all is... and if people didn't make a big deal out of gay rights, how would they get them?

  • @video: in the face of hatred and bigotry, and u might call it cowardice but I don't care, I pretend I'm a straight person defending the rights of others but when it comes down 2 it, I don't need other people's approval anymore for my happiness. I don't need 2 make other people happy, I won't make them so uncomfortable that they apporach me tho, so I judge my pda based on the people I'm surrounded by. as is appropriate. its just polite

  • @video: I just don't think its necessary because of that persecution. one should fight persecution but not at the risk of losing means 2 feed oneself or shelter oneself. thats funadamentalist if u ask me. my son's needs come first so if my job were at stake it would be his right for me 2 stay single and silent. tho I'd still hav a gf, I wouldn't tell people she was, if it meant keepin my job and house.

  • I can't wait until I am out of school and can be out at work. Right now, if I came out, I would be fired immediately. :(
