A remembrance day song written, composed and sung by Jack Pontes. Music arrangement by Peter Linseman.
Wounded Soldier
A wounded soldier
Cries in the night I can hear him
He's hungry inside I can feel him
Longing for the bread the bread of life
Jesus Christ
Wounded soldier
I've seen you before don't I know you
In my dreams in the night don't I see you
In my nightmares I'm frightened of you
You could be too
Wounded Soldier
I'm a lot like you I'm a lot like you
Cause I thought the way you do I thought the way you do
But there came a day
When I had to say
Enough is enough lets end this pain
I took up the bread and blood
God's Holy flood of love and I looked up to the answer of it all
I heard God calling me
And he wanted me to be a soldier of freedom
to set you free
to set you free
Wounded soldier
I'm a lot like you I'm a lot like you
Cause I thought the way you do
I thought the way you do
When I lived in the world so free
I was sold into slavery
Sold in sin again and again
Again and again
When I lived in the world so free
I was sold into slavery
Sold in sin again and again
Again and again
A Wounded soldier
Cries in the night I can hear him
He's hungry inside I can feel him
Longing for the bread the bread of life
Jesus Christ
Wounded soldier
I'm a lot like you I'm a lot like you
Cause I thought the way you do
I thought the way you do
But there came a day
When I had to say
Enough is enough lets end this pain
I took up the bread and blood
God's Holy flood of love and I looked up to the answer of it all
I heard God calling me
And he wanted me to be a soldier of freedom
to set you free
to set you free
to set you free
to set you free
I love the symbolism that the song lyrics imparted with that of the soldiers who fought in the war. It is very touching and very good way of remembering their sacrifices.
