On 27 Jan 2011 a double-decker bus trial was conducted on Discovery Bay roads (Hong Kong). The bus used is a 12 metre-long, three-axled Alexander-Dennis 'Enviro 500" fitted with Euro V engine. This bus is one of a new batch currently being delivered to New World First Bus. The purpose of the trial, which was completely successful, was to demonstrate that this design of bus can be operated within Discovery Bay including passing through tunnels and under-passes and negotiating the tight turns within the bus terminus. This bus, which has a capacity of 86 seated and allows 43 standees (and wheel-chair access) would go a long way to solving passenger capacity shortages during peak periods on the external Sunny Bay and Tung Chung routes. more frequent single deckers would be a much better option!
