  • I fully agree. Hyungs are just one way of achieving all those things. The hyungs work for me, but certainly dance, yoga, gymnastics in all their varieties work for other people. Going beyond them, all sports and exercises have their undeniable benefits. My original response concerned the benefits of hyungs beyond their practical application.

  • @ejameskehoe With respect sir, couldn't this be said for anything involving movement of the body? If you get out what you put in, does the fact that it's hyung become arbitrary? Could you not see dance as moving meditation improving concentration, coordination, flexibility, timing, etcetera?

  • On the advice of one very senior Dan in Soo Bahk Do, I use hyungs as moving meditation, enjoyable and fulfilling in themselves. On the applied side, they improve my concentration, coordination, flexibility, timing, speed, power, and breathing.

  • I would love to see a practical application for these forms. Anyone got any video or links?

  • great !!! i rather Hyongs to damn new poomses!!!!

    Great Video!!!

    Never left TKD!!!!!

    i know u wont!

  • that is right, I study Soo Bahk Do and we have these forms, most/many Tang Soo DO schools do not have them............

  • what are you talking about Jdandboo!? Yuk-ro and chil-sung hyungs are the more recent forms developed by GM hwang kee from various martial sources..why would it be deleted? lol I think your thinking of the okinawian forms in tangsoodo that are being fazed out being replaced with the more korean/chinese flavor forms.

  • Region 4 ftw!
