In this video I start up my beloved 76 F-250 Ranger, known as "Mean Green", shes got a bored .040 over block. 9.7:1 compression, Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock 4 Barrel 750 CFM Carb, MSD Distributor and coil, RV cam, and slightly milled heads. Estimated horsepower is in the 350 to 400 range with somewhere around 400 to 500 ft lbs of torque, I know this from the power adder combos I have used that are discused on ford truck and 460 engine forums that what I have should make the amount of power I say it does.

Watch the video, and you decide what you think!!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, this makes me miss my dad's old '76 Ranger F-250. It was a tan bucket of rust, he sold it years ago to some guy that was going to restore it. I'll have one of these someday. Great video, nice truck! Sounds good too.

  • @alextothehbro Thanks. Yeah there great trucks. I have had a 73 F100 Ranger, this 76 F250 Ranger and I still also have my old 79 F150 Custom. I refuse to own or drive trucks from other era's or makes. The 73 to 79 fords are the only truck to have in my book.

  • I like the vid and would like to know what are you running for a cam? I am rebuilding a 460 bored 040 over and a using a EDELBROCK 1407 carb but would like some imput on a cam for street and strip for this engine. It will go in a 83 ranger or my 97 Mustang. Thanks

  • @W5CMD Thanks, glad you liked the video. I have a mild RV cam in it, I don't remember the details of the lift and duration anymore though. I would suggest you should go with a Edelbrock street strip cam for your engine. Edelbrock has kits that include the carb, cam and intake for almost any application, that would probably be your best bet. Also, you could try going on to some 460 forums and asking around. Good luck with it!!

  • Thank you so much! My father had a 74 Ford pickup which we used for hauling wood for the winter. When I was old enough I bought my first truck, a blue 76 Ford F100 with a 390FE. I loved that thing. It could haul nearly anything. It was a 4x4 with a new process transfer case I think it was called. This video damn near brought a tear to my eye. I drive a Porsche, Corvette and what not these days. However, I miss my old ford truck every day and can still hear that rumble in my dreams I swear.

  • what rear end are u using?

  • Now that was a crescent wrench you said? jkjk

  • Reminds me of my 1979 F250.

  • @fidoshock321 Well thanks, I am a really nice guy, but when somebody I don't even know, talks smack about me because they can't understand what I said, and instead of him trying to be rational about it, just wanted to be rude because he thought it was funny or whatever, really pisses me off and I have had soooo many comments on this video just about the fact they heard me say something I didn't, well I am tried of hearing about it.
