Elvis did this song nicely, but a really great version is by Waylon Jennings recorded in 74 and released on the Waylon Live album in 76.

Waylon wrote it. But this is not a new version. It came out in 1981. It was just remastered and some instruments were added to the original 1967 - 1969 recording.
