To the top rating comment, the BMW most likely has 90/10 shocks, designed to transfer body weight rearward during the run, stiff front shocks keep the front down thus unloading the rear tyres.. *Tires for the yanks.

@motoman740 i'm not familiar with other drag set ups than a beetle's. that being said some beetle drag racers use worn out shocks in front to transfer weight to the rear wheels faster.

Actually, only the 914-6 had a flat 6, like a 911, but it was only 2.0 litres. VW Type IV and Porsche 914 use the EXACT SAME engines. Regardless, they all put out less than 100HP in stock form.

@StormyF15014 ACTUALLY MY DAD IS A VOLKSWAGEN BUG DRAGRACER AND HE GETS 330 HP OUT OF HIS CAR AND RUNS A 9 SECOND IN THE QUARTER MILE

@SonicthePlumber uuhhh... no they arent. the porsche 914 is a six cylinder motor and the type three is a four... google it. and type fives are flat fours too.
looks like the bmw owner spent all his money on the engine and had none left for some decent shocks...

but look at how close the bug was. Lets say it had 200 hp which is about the most you cn get out of a vw with out a turbo, its against 800 hp so i think it did a VERY GREAT job at keeping up
