actually, most of their songs have a steady beat, it's just the instruments aren't always playing right ON it. It leaves more space for you to feel it. See "Missouri Twist" from the Sang Phat Editor album. I have to admit, the first years I had that album, i could hardly listen to it. It frustrated me. Then, something clicked, and i couldn't get enough of it. Same thing happened with Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart. Now THAT is music that's hard to follow.

The reason I like this is because it is smarter than me. I don't comprehend the meter and structure of their music composition and that delights me to no end.
